For bareboat charters, yes—previous boating experience is required to ensure safety and confidence on the water. We review your experience before confirming your booking and can help match you with the right vessel. If you’re newer to boating, we offer options to help you build confidence and get on the water comfortably.

A bareboat charter is for experienced boaters who want full control of their trip. You are the skipper—responsible for navigation, safety, and operating the yacht. It offers complete freedom to explore the Gulf Islands at your own pace.

An instructional skipper training charter is a hands-on learning experience with a professional skipper onboard. You actively participate in navigation, docking, anchoring, and trip planning while gaining real-world experience in a relaxed, supportive environment.

In short:

•Bareboat = independence (you run the boat)

•Instructional = confidence-building (you learn to run the boat with expert guidance)

If you’re unsure which option is right, we’ll guide you based on your experience level and goals.
